Comedy For a Cause is a non-profit fund-raising event for the Hope Connection, a mission outreach by Vision of Hope MCC to Lancaster City. This event brings three internationally known lesbian comedians to Lancaster City in conjunction with our first ever Pride event, Lancaster Pride 2008 on June 21st, 2008. Pride will be held at Buchanan Park, near F&M College, and Comedy For a Cause will be held at Reynolds Middle School, which is within walking distance of the park. (Street address and map included on tickets.)

Come and join us for an evening of Comedy and Laughter!

Vickie Shaw comes to Lancaster with her slow paced (she's southern), incredibly endearing, (she's southern), sharp, don't mess with her (she's southern!), comedy. Vickie doesn't have to go far from home for material - as a recovering SoB (Southern Baptist) and out lesbian mother, she's successfully raised two sons (one of whom is married and just gave her a "perfect baby granddaughter"), has a teenage daughter still living at home, and a "husbian" in Sgt. Patch. Yeah there's enough material there to fill a few hours. Vickie has performed in almost every State in the US, and had headlined in too many venues to list here but trust us, this girl's been around.

Sabrina Matthews is an openly lesbian comic who relates the absurd in everyday life in a witty anecdotal style. "Sabrina's brand of comedy is infectious," says afterellen.com, and she "regularly draws out big laughs from both gay and straight audiences." Sabrina began her comedy career in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now appears regularly at clubs, colleges, cruises, and festivals around the world. On the rare days that she is home amidst the doughnut shops and dude-speak of Los Angeles, Sabrina spends her days scuba diving, teaching her dog not to eat furniture, engaging in her favorite game (Point and Laugh), and generally doing anything else to avoid rifling through the heap of letters from the IRS teetering on her desk in search of tiny, hastily scribbled comedy notes. All in comfortable shoes.

Jennie McNulty’s comedy is refreshingly different and hilariously funny. McNulty is a rising star in the comedy scene and she can currently be seen on the LOGO special “One Night Stand up.” She has traveled the world doing comedy – literally. In addition to headlining in comedy clubs all over the US and Canada, she has entertained the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. She's also done comedy in more peaceful settings as one of the favorites of Olivia Cruises and Resorts. Jennie spends her summer seasons performing nightly in Provincetown, MA. McNulty is also one of the producers of a monthly show at the Hollywood Improv called, “Gays R Us.” Her appearance at The 2006 Dinah Shore event was a smash hit as was her performance in the 2007 Toronto Gay and Lesbian Comedy Festival.
